THE CANON POWERSHOT S100

THE CANON POWERSHOT S100

This is my point and shoot camera, the Canon PowerShot S100. Very small, in fact one of the smallest camera and used as a backup of many professional photographers. It is really a fast shooting camera and very convenient to carry around tucked in my pocket. Just point and shoot! That's the idea. Its AF is really fast and it is really a wonder. It produced sharp images with vivid colors that you wouldn't believe it could. It has a 24-120 mm lens range equivalent with 1/1.7" CMOS sensor at 12 MP. Its ISO range is from 80 to 6400 but I would stop at 1600 to avoid image deterioration. I started my hobby on photography on this kind of camera because I learned a lot by reading and finding which camera will find you most effectively on everyday use. Canon started the S series in 2009 with the S90 and followed by S95, S100, S110 and the latest the S120 had very good reviews in the internet. It was the best compact camera in its class. . . . . . .

DSLRs being heavy and obtrusive can be a drawback and only used occasionally because of its bulkiness. 80% of its time will be on a storage and safekeeping while point and shoot cameras are always ready to use. In fact, I used it everyday. If you ask me, I will not buy any DSLR anytime in the future. There are many small point & shoot cameras out there with fixed lenses like the Fujifilm X100 or Ricoh GR with APSC sensor that can challenge DSLRs in image quality or even surpass it perhaps. Remember a good or expensive DSLR camera will not guarantee you to take better pictures, at the end of the day, it is you alone who can take better pictures by improving and honing your craft in photography. I hope you'll enjoy my photos of my Canon PowerShot S100 ever since I began using it.
